What is DASP?
The Driven Academics Sponsorship Program (DASP) is our very first Philanthropy project. Through such, we aim to provide all the guidance, resources, and mentorship that our Driven Team has to offer to low-income or first-generation High School Seniors applying to College, at no cost at all. Beyond that, every single DASP Student is awarded a scholarship to help pay for college. Since our inaugural DASP Class of 2017, we’ve been able to guide and empower the college application process for more than 30 students while awarding over $6,000 in scholarships. Driven Academics believes in empowering students from all socioeconomic backgrounds and we will continue closing gaps for many years to come!
History of DASP?
Lorenzo Cancel and Armando Hernandez created The Driven Academics Sponsorship Program (DASP) as a way to give back to the youth of their community in a new meaningful way. The new program provides Winners with College Counseling, College Essay Guidance plus a Scholarship to help pay for school. They are both also Alumni of Southwest High School in El Centro, CA. Today, Lorenzo and Armando remain best friends. After graduating from The University of California at Berkeley and The University of California at Los Angeles, respectively, they now continue to expand DASP and grow Driven Academics as Directors of Education. Their goal now is to continue giving Driven Scholarships in Imperial Valley, CA and elevate DASP to its full potential.
